Cynotilapia zebroides "cobue"

This mbuna species has been a particular challenge to photograph.  In addition to fast paced movement of this mbuna, properly capturing the orange blaze was difficult. Flash overexposure and framing the fish perpendicular to the line of sight did not highlight the true brilliance of the prominent blaze.  The image shown to the right is the sharpest in the series, but the spectacular combination of color in this species becomes apparent when viewing this same specimen from a variety of different angles.

The orange blaze highlights of this specimen were best photographed from slightly above a subject that was moving towards the camera

Digital images  were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 995 camera.  A Minolta off-camera strobe was handheld to supplement overhead lighthing.
